Target Information

Schistosoma is a genus of trematodes, commonly referred to as blood flukes. Schistosoma incognitum naturally parasitizes pigs, dogs, sheep, goats, and rodents in Asia. In ricefield rats (Rattus argentiventer), the eggs of S. incognitum invade the liver, leading to the formation of hepatic granulomas. Occasionally, ectopic egg granulomas may also develop in the intestine, stomach, pancreas, or lungs.
