Target Information

Rickettsia conorii is a Gram-negative bacterium that must live inside host cells and belongs to the Rickettsia genus. As part of the spotted fever group, it is the most widely distributed species within this category. The brown dog tick, Rhipicephalus sanguineus, can transmit this bacterium, and domestic dogs may serve as reservoir hosts for Rickettsia conorii.
