Target Information

Retinal, also referred to as retinaldehyde, is a polyene chromophore. Notably, 11-cis-retinal serves as the vital chromophore for the visual pigment rhodopsin. Additionally, retinal contributes to the suppression of adipogenesis and helps mitigate diet-induced obesity by inhibiting the activity of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor (PPAR)γ in fat tissue.
