Target Information

RSIVD is a major cause of mortality in farmed red sea bream (Pagrus major) and over 30 other species of cultured marine fish. The red sea bream iridovirus (RSIV) leads to substantial economic losses in aquaculture. Initially isolated from cultured red sea bream (Pagrus major) in Japan in 1990, RSIV was first identified in rock bream (Oplegnathus fasciatus) in South Korea in 1988.
