Target Information
Leptin, encoded by the LEP gene in zebrafish, is believed to be involved in a signaling pathway that regulates body fat depot size. This hormone, secreted by adipocytes, travels through the bloodstream, crosses the blood-brain barrier (BBB), and binds to its receptor, LepR. This interaction is known to negatively regulate appetite.
