Target Information
YopD is a critical hydrophobic translocator protein of the Yersinia enterocolitica Type III Secretion System (T3SS). Together with YopB, it inserts into the host cell plasma membrane to form a translocation pore, enabling the direct injection of effector Yops (Yersinia outer proteins) into the cytosol. Beyond its structural role in the "injectisome," YopD acts as a regulatory element, controlling the expression and secretion of other Yops. It is essential for Yersinia virulence, subverting host immune defenses and promoting systemic infection.
