Target Information
Swine troponin T type 2, cardiac (TNNT2) is a protein encoded by the TNNT2 gene, found exclusively in cardiac muscle. It is one of the three subunits of the troponin complex, which plays a pivotal role in the regulation of muscle contraction and relaxation. Cardiac troponin T (cTnT) helps to coordinate the contraction of the heart muscle by binding to tropomyosin and regulating the interaction between actin and myosin filaments. When calcium levels are low, cTnT keeps tropomyosin in a position that blocks the myosin interaction with actin; however, at increased levels of calcium, it allows for actin-myosin interactions, leading to muscle contraction.
