Target Information
Swine transcobalamin-1 is a vitamin B12-binding glycoprotein that plays a crucial role in the transport of vitamin B12 in pigs. It is responsible for binding to cobalamin and delivering it to tissues and organs, thereby supporting various metabolic processes, including red blood cell formation and the synthesis of DNA and RNA. Transcobalamin-1 is also known to be involved in the protection of vitamin B12 from the acidic environment of the stomach, ensuring its absorption in the small intestine.
