Target Information
Swine Saposin-C (PSAP) is a multifunctional glycoprotein involved in the metabolism of various sphingolipids within the cell, or secreted into plasma, milk, or cerebrospinal fluid with distinct activities. It is derived from a common precursor, prosaposin, which is cleaved into four active units: saposin A, B, C, and D. These saposins activate several lysosomal hydrolases, playing a critical role in the breakdown of sphingolipids. Notably, saposin C can activate glucocerebrosidase, which is implicated in the pathogenesis of Parkinson's disease.
