Target Information
Swine metalloproteinase inhibitor 3 (MMP inhibitor 3), also known as TIMP-3, is a protein that belongs to the tissue inhibitors of metalloproteinases (TIMPs) family. It plays a critical role in regulating the activity of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs), which are enzymes that degrade various components of the extracellular matrix. TIMP-3 is known to inhibit the activity of several MMPs, including MMP-1, MMP-2, MMP-3, MMP-7, and MMP-9, by forming a 1:1 stoichiometric complex with them, thereby preventing their interaction with the target substrates and regulating ECM stability.
