Target Information
Swine matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP9) is a zinc-dependent proteolytic enzyme involved in various biological processes, such as cell proliferation, differentiation, and host defense. MMP9 plays important roles in swine reproduction, extracellular matrix remodeling, and inflammatory responses. For example, in porcine ovarian follicles, the expression of MMP9 is associated with follicular growth, with its activity increasing in the theca layer and decreasing in granulosa cells . Additionally, MMP9 is involved in porcine atherosclerosis, potentially participating in the effects of IGF-1 on atherosclerosis . In swine, research on MMP9 helps to understand its role in diseases, providing a basis for developing new therapeutic strategies.
