Target Information
Swine interleukin-1 beta (IL-1β) is a potent pro-inflammatory cytokine that plays a key role in the inflammatory response and immune reactions in pigs. It is produced by various cell types, including monocytes, macrophages, and dendritic cells. IL-1β is involved in the regulation of inflammation, cell proliferation, differentiation, and apoptosis. It is also crucial in the context of female reproduction in pigs. This cytokine is produced as an inactive precursor, pro-IL-1β, which is activated by caspase 1 (CASP1/ICE) and plays a significant role in the immune response to infection.
