Target Information
Swine BCL2 associated X, apoptosis regulator, also known as Bax, is a protein that plays a crucial role in the regulation of apoptosis, or programmed cell death. It is involved in the activation of cysteine-type endopeptidase activity, which is integral to the apoptotic process. Bax is part of the Bax complex and is located in the cytosol, endoplasmic reticulum, and mitochondrial outer membrane. It acts upstream or within several processes, including animal organ development, apoptotic signaling pathways, and the regulation of the apoptotic process itself.
