Target Information
Swine 72 kDa type IV collagenase, also known as Matrix Metalloproteinase-2 (MMP-2), is a ubiquitous metalloproteinase involved in the remodeling of the vasculature, angiogenesis, tissue repair, tumor invasion, inflammation, and atherosclerotic plaque rupture. It degrades extracellular matrix proteins and acts on several nonmatrix proteins, playing a role in myocardial cell death pathways and contributing to myocardial oxidative stress by regulating the activity of GSK3beta.
