Target Information

EndoS is a highly specialized endoglycosidase secreted by Streptococcus pyogenes that specifically targets the conserved N-linked glycan on the heavy chain of IgG. By cleaving the beta-1,4-linkage between the two inner $N$-acetylglucosamine residues, EndoS effectively "deglycosylates" antibodies. This modification prevents IgG from binding to Fc receptors and activating the complement system, thereby neutralizing the host's humoral immune response. Due to its surgical precision, EndoS is widely used in biotechnology for antibody glycoengineering and treating autoimmune diseases.
