Target Information

The Capsid (C) protein is a small, highly basic structural protein of the St. Louis Encephalitis Virus (SLEV) that orchestrates viral assembly. It functions by binding to the viral genomic RNA to form the nucleocapsid core, which is subsequently enveloped by the PrM and E proteins. Beyond its structural role, the C protein interacts with host cellular factors to modulate the stress response and lipid metabolism, facilitating efficient viral replication. It is a key target for studying flavivirus encapsidation mechanisms.
