Target Information
Rabbit Vascular Cell Adhesion Molecule-1 (VCAM-1) is a key cell surface glycoprotein expressed on activated endothelial cells. It plays a crucial role in mediating the adhesion of leukocytes, such as monocytes and lymphocytes, to the endothelium during inflammation. In rabbits, VCAM-1 expression is induced in endothelial cells in response to cytokines and is also observed in vascular smooth muscle cells within atherosclerotic lesions. This protein facilitates leukocyte rolling and firm adhesion, contributing to immune cell recruitment and inflammation. VCAM-1 is also implicated in the development of atherosclerosis and other inflammatory conditions. Its expression can serve as a biomarker for vascular inflammation and is a potential target for therapeutic interventions aimed at reducing inflammation and preventing cardiovascular diseases.
