Target Information

Rabbit Leptin (OB) is a hormone primarily produced by adipose tissue that regulates energy balance and body weight. It acts on the hypothalamus to suppress appetite and increase energy expenditure. In rabbits, leptin receptors are found in various tissues, including the hypothalamus, pituitary, and ovaries, indicating its role in both metabolic and reproductive functions. Leptin can influence ovarian function by affecting steroidogenesis and luteal cell activity, potentially modulating fertility. Additionally, leptin may play a role in immune regulation and inflammation, similar to its functions in other mammals.
