Target Information
Rabbit Interleukin-1 Alpha (IL1A) is a multifunctional cytokine that plays a crucial role in immune regulation and inflammation. It is produced by various cell types, including monocytes, macrophages, and epithelial cells, and acts both intracellularly and extracellularly. IL1A stimulates the transcription of pro-inflammatory genes and activates immune cells such as T cells, B cells, and NK cells. In rabbits, IL1A has been shown to significantly increase during inflammatory responses, such as in immune complex-induced colitis, where it correlates with tissue inflammation, edema, and necrosis. Its dual function as a transcription factor and a cytokine makes IL1A a key player in both initiating and amplifying inflammatory processes. This cytokine is also involved in tissue repair and wound healing, highlighting its importance in maintaining tissue homeostasis.
