Target Information
Rabbit Coagulation Factor VIII (F8) is a crucial protein in the blood coagulation cascade. It acts as a cofactor for factor IXa in the intrinsic pathway, facilitating the conversion of factor X to its activated form (Xa), which is essential for the formation of the prothrombinase complex and subsequent thrombin generation. F8 is synthesized primarily in the liver and circulates in the blood in a complex with von Willebrand factor (vWF), which protects it from proteolytic degradation. Deficiencies or defects in F8 lead to hemophilia A, a bleeding disorder characterized by prolonged bleeding and poor blood clotting.
