Target Information
Rabbit Coagulation Factor VII (F7) is a serine protease that plays a crucial role in initiating the extrinsic pathway of blood coagulation. It circulates in the blood as a zymogen and is converted to its active form, Factor VIIa, by minor proteolysis. In the presence of tissue factor and calcium ions, Factor VIIa converts Factor X to Factor Xa, which is essential for the formation of thrombin and subsequent clot formation. In rabbits, F7 is primarily found in plasma and is vital for maintaining normal hemostasis. Deficiencies in F7 can lead to bleeding disorders, highlighting its importance in the coagulation cascade.
