Target Information

Rabbit Cathepsin K (CTSK) is a lysosomal cysteine protease that plays a crucial role in bone metabolism. In rabbits, CTSK is highly expressed in osteoclasts and is essential for bone resorption. It degrades collagen in the bone matrix, contributing to the remodeling process. Additionally, CTSK has been implicated in various pathological conditions. For instance, in a rabbit model of granulomatous and cavitary pathology, CTSK expression was significantly upregulated, contributing to tissue remodeling and collagen turnover. This suggests that CTSK may be a potential therapeutic target for diseases involving abnormal bone resorption or tissue fibrosis.
