Target Information
Rabbit Alpha-1-Acid Glycoprotein (ORM1) is an acute-phase protein primarily synthesized in the liver and involved in immune modulation and drug transport. It functions as a carrier for various ligands, including basic drugs and lipophilic substances, influencing their distribution and availability in the body. During inflammation or infection, ORM1 levels significantly increase, playing a role in modulating the immune response. Additionally, ORM1 has been implicated in vitamin D-mediated macrophage de-activation, contributing to tissue homeostasis and remodeling. Its expression is regulated by cytokines such as IL-1β and IL-6, making it a valuable biomarker for studying inflammatory conditions.
