Target Information
ORF1ab is the largest gene in the Porcine Epidemic Diarrhea Virus (PEDV) genome, encoding a massive polyprotein that is proteolytically cleaved into 16 non-structural proteins (nsp1-16). These proteins form the viral replicase-transcriptase complex, essential for viral RNA synthesis, proofreading, and subgenomic mRNA transcription. As the primary engine of viral replication and a key modulator of host innate immune evasion, ORF1ab is a critical target for developing antiviral inhibitors and diagnostic markers to combat PEDV infections in swine.
