Peste des Petits Ruminants Virus (PPRV) is an enveloped, negative-sense, single-stranded RNA virus belonging to the genus Morbillivirus within the Paramyxoviridae family. It is a highly contagious transboundary pathogen causing severe, often fatal respiratory and gastrointestinal disease in sheep, goats, and wild ungulates. The virus targets immune and epithelial cells, inducing high fever, necrotic stomatitis, and pneumonia.
