Target Information
Newcastle Disease Virus (NDV) is an enveloped, negative-sense, single-stranded RNA virus that causes a highly contagious and frequently fatal respiratory, neurological, and gastrointestinal disease in domestic and wild avian species. As a major threat to global poultry industries, its pathogenicity is determined primarily by the cleavage site of its fusion (F) protein. The F protein, alongside the hemagglutinin-neuraminidase (HN) surface glycoprotein responsible for sialic acid receptor binding, serves as the primary target for diagnostics, neutralizing antibodies, and vaccine development.
