Target Information
Mycoplasma is a genus of small, wall-less bacteria belonging to the class Mollicutes. Lacking a peptidoglycan cell wall, these organisms are inherently resistant to beta-lactam antibiotics and exhibit distinct polymorphic cellular structures. They are major pathogens across human and veterinary medicine, causing respiratory and urogenital diseases. Key targets for diagnostics and therapeutic interventions include the specialized terminal adhesion proteins (such as P1 and P140) used for mucosal attachment, metabolic enzymes like arginine deiminase, and conserved 16S rRNA sequences used for molecular detection.
