Target Information
Mouse Xanthine Dehydrogenase/Oxidase (Xdh) is a critical enzyme involved in purine metabolism, catalyzing the conversion of hypoxanthine to xanthine and xanthine to uric acid. This enzyme exists in two forms: xanthine dehydrogenase (XDH) and xanthine oxidase (XO), which are interconvertible. XDH is the predominant form under normal conditions, while XO is induced under oxidative stress. XO generates reactive oxygen species (ROS) during uric acid production, which can contribute to oxidative stress and is implicated in various diseases, including cardiovascular disorders, diabetes, and neurodegenerative diseases.
