Target Information
Mouse Vitamin K-Dependent Protein C (Proc) is a key component of the natural anticoagulant system. It is synthesized in the liver and plays a crucial role in regulating blood coagulation. Protein C is activated by thrombin and, along with Protein S, inhibits the coagulation factors aFV and aFVIII, thereby downregulating blood coagulation. Deficiencies in Protein C can lead to excessive thrombin generation and thromboembolism. Measurement of Protein C activity is essential for identifying hereditary or acquired deficiencies, which are associated with thrombophilia.
