Target Information
Mouse Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor Receptor 1 (Flt1) is a critical receptor tyrosine kinase involved in angiogenesis and vasculogenesis. It binds VEGF-A with higher affinity than other VEGF receptors, such as KDR (VEGFR2), and plays a key role in regulating vascular development. Flt1 is essential for the organization of embryonic vasculature and is involved in the VEGF-Notch feedback loop during angiogenesis. In addition to its role in development, Flt1 is implicated in tumor growth and metastasis by promoting angiogenesis in the tumor microenvironment. It also functions as a decoy receptor, sequestering VEGF-A and modulating its bioavailability to other receptors. In the placenta, Flt1 is crucial for fetoplacental endothelial cell migration and tube formation. Its dysregulation is associated with conditions like preeclampsia and various cancers.
