Target Information

Mouse Unconventional Myosin-Va (Myo5a) is a motor protein involved in intracellular transport and organelle positioning. It moves along actin filaments and transports various cargoes, including organelles and vesicles, to maintain cellular organization. Myo5a is essential for the proper function of melanocytes, where it transports melanosomes to the cell periphery. In mouse models, mutations in Myo5a cause Griscelli syndrome, characterized by pigmentary dilution and immunodeficiency.
