Target Information
Mouse Transthyretin (Ttr) is a carrier protein responsible for the transport of thyroid hormones and retinol. It is predominantly expressed in the liver and plays a role in maintaining electrolyte-fluid balance and vascular tone. Ttr has been implicated in various diseases, including amyloidosis, where it forms amyloid fibrils, and in postoperative cognitive dysfunction (POCD), where it may serve as a biomarker and therapeutic target. Ttr also regulates diabetic retinopathy through the VEGFA/PI3K/AKT pathway and has been linked to insulin resistance and exercise-induced insulin sensitivity. Additionally, Ttr has gender-specific effects on neural stem cell fate and is involved in stress-induced depression and aggressive behavior modulation. In skeletal muscle, Ttr regulates muscle stem cell proliferation and muscle regeneration. Ttr is a potential therapeutic target in multiple conditions due to its diverse roles in metabolism, neuroprotection, and tissue repair.
