Target Information
Mouse Transforming Growth Factor Beta-3 Proprotein (Tgfb3) is a member of the TGF-β superfamily, encoding a secreted ligand that binds to TGF-β receptors to regulate gene expression via SMAD transcription factors. Tgfb3 is crucial for embryogenesis, cell differentiation, and tissue homeostasis. It plays a role in palate development, with homozygous knockout mice exhibiting cleft palate and neonatal death. Tgfb3 also regulates lipid metabolism and fibrosis in the kidney. In the immune system, Tgfb3 signaling in microglia is essential for maintaining brain homeostasis.
