Target Information
Mouse Tartrate-Resistant Acid Phosphatase Type 5 (Acp5) is an enzyme that plays a crucial role in bone metabolism and immune regulation. It is highly expressed in osteoclasts, where it contributes to bone resorption by dephosphorylating substrates. Acp5 is also involved in immune cell recruitment and activation, particularly in response to bacterial infections. In mouse models, Acp5 has been implicated in various diseases, including atherosclerosis, where it promotes plaque formation and inflammation. Additionally, Acp5 is associated with cardiac fibrosis and may serve as a potential therapeutic target for myocardial infarction. Abnormal expression of Acp5 has been linked to pathological conditions such as osteoporosis and inflammatory diseases.
