Target Information
Mouse Talin-1 (Tln1) is a cytoskeletal scaffold protein that plays a crucial role in cell adhesion and migration by interacting with the cytoplasmic domain of integrins. It facilitates integrin ligand affinity and activation, creating a mechanical link between the actin cytoskeleton and integrins. Talin-1 is essential for various cellular processes, including cell proliferation, differentiation, and mechanosensation. In β-cells, Talin-1 regulates β-cell proliferation and mass by modulating Smurf1-mediated Stat3 ubiquitination and proteasomal degradation. Talin-1 deficiency in β-cells leads to reduced β-cell mass, impaired insulin expression and secretion, and glucose intolerance in mice. Talin-1 has also been implicated in tumor progression and metastasis in several types of cancer, including hepatocellular carcinoma, breast cancer, and prostate cancer. Additionally, Talin-1 plays a role in platelet and leukocyte functions, promoting angiogenesis in mice. Talin-1 is a promising therapeutic target in various diseases, including diabetes and cancer.
