Target Information
Mouse Synaptosomal-Associated Protein 25 (SNAP25) is a presynaptic protein essential for neurotransmitter release. It is a key component of the SNARE complex, which mediates vesicle docking and fusion with the plasma membrane, thereby facilitating neurotransmitter release at synapses. SNAP25 plays a crucial role in synaptic transmission and plasticity, and is involved in the regulation of neuron projection development. It is highly expressed in the nervous system, particularly in the cerebral cortex, hippocampus, and cerebellum. In research, SNAP25 is used to study various aspects of neuroscience, including synaptic function, neurotransmitter release mechanisms, and the pathophysiology of neurological disorders. SNAP25-deficient mice exhibit impaired synaptic transmission and various neurological abnormalities, highlighting its importance in neural function. Additionally, SNAP25 is used as a marker in studies of associative learning, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, schizophrenia, and other neurological and psychiatric disorders.
