Target Information
Mouse Surfactant Associated Protein A1 (Sftpa1) is a key component of pulmonary surfactant, a lipoprotein complex that reduces surface tension in the alveoli and prevents alveolar collapse. Sftpa1 is a C-type lectin that plays a crucial role in innate immunity and host defense by binding to specific carbohydrate moieties on pathogens and mediating their clearance. In mice, Sftpa1 is highly expressed in the lungs, where it helps maintain surfactant homeostasis and modulates inflammatory responses. Abnormal expression of Sftpa1 has been implicated in various lung diseases, including idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis and lung cancer. Additionally, Sftpa1 has been shown to influence immune cell infiltration and may serve as a prognostic biomarker in lung adenocarcinoma.
