Target Information
Mouse Secretory Leukocyte Peptidase Inhibitor (Slpi) is a serine protease inhibitor that plays a crucial role in regulating inflammation and immune responses. It is highly expressed in mucosal tissues and inhibits the activity of various serine proteases, including elastase and trypsin, thereby reducing tissue damage and inflammation. Slpi also has antimicrobial properties, protecting against bacterial and viral infections. In mouse models, Slpi is involved in the regulation of immune cell functions and has been shown to modulate the activity of neutrophils and macrophages. Abnormal expression of Slpi has been implicated in various inflammatory and infectious diseases, including chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and cystic fibrosis.
