Target Information
Mouse Ryanodine Receptor 1 (Ryr1) is a calcium-release channel crucial for muscle contraction. It is expressed in skeletal muscle and facilitates the release of calcium ions from the sarcoplasmic reticulum, enabling muscle contraction. Ryr1 also plays a role in neurotransmitter-induced calcium signaling in pulmonary artery smooth muscle cells. Additionally, Ryr1 has been implicated in muscle differentiation, acting as a negative regulator of myogenesis in certain contexts. Mutations in Ryr1 are associated with diseases like central core disease and malignant hyperthermia.
