Mouse Prostaglandin-Endoperoxide Synthase 2 (Ptgs2), also known as cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), is a key enzyme in prostaglandin biosynthesis. It catalyzes the conversion of arachidonic acid to prostaglandin endoperoxide H2, a critical step in the production of prostaglandins that modulate inflammation, pain, and fever. Ptgs2 is inducible during inflammation and is the target of many non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) .
