Target Information

In mice, Progonadoliberin-1 (Gnrh1) is a critical neuropeptide that regulates the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis, playing a central role in reproductive development and function. Gnrh1 is synthesized and released in a pulsatile fashion from neurons in the hypothalamus, stimulating the release of luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) from the pituitary gland. These hormones are essential for regulating the reproductive cycle and sex steroid secretion from the gonads. Gnrh1 is also involved in various physiological processes, including immune regulation and gastrointestinal motility. Mutations in the Gnrh1 gene have been associated with hypogonadotropic hypogonadism, a condition characterized by impaired reproductive function. Gnrh1 is widely used in research to study reproductive biology, neuroendocrine regulation, and the development of therapeutic strategies for reproductive disorders.
