Target Information
Mouse Phosphoenolpyruvate Carboxykinase, Cytosolic [GTP] (Pck1) is a key enzyme involved in gluconeogenesis, the metabolic pathway that generates glucose from non-carbohydrate sources. Pck1 catalyzes the conversion of oxaloacetate to phosphoenolpyruvate, a crucial step in this pathway. It is highly expressed in the liver and kidneys, where it plays a significant role in maintaining glucose homeostasis. Pck1 is also involved in the regulation of memory T cell differentiation and has been implicated in various metabolic processes, including glycerol biosynthesis from pyruvate. Abnormal expression of Pck1 has been associated with metabolic disorders such as diabetes and obesity. Additionally, Pck1 has been shown to protect against mitoribosomal defects in diabetic nephropathy in mouse models.
