Target Information

Mouse Peroxisome Proliferator-Activated Receptor Gamma (Pparg) is a ligand-activated transcription factor belonging to the nuclear receptor superfamily. It plays a crucial role in regulating adipocyte differentiation, lipid metabolism, and glucose homeostasis. Pparg forms heterodimers with retinoid X receptors (RXRs) and binds to peroxisome proliferator response elements (PPREs) in the DNA to regulate gene expression. In mice, Pparg is highly expressed in adipose tissue, muscle, and the liver, where it promotes adipogenesis and enhances insulin sensitivity. Mutations in Pparg can lead to lipodystrophy and insulin resistance. Additionally, Pparg has been implicated in the pathology of various diseases, including obesity, diabetes, and atherosclerosis.
