Target Information

Mouse Peroxisome Proliferator-Activated Receptor Alpha (Ppara) is a master regulator of fatty acid oxidation (FAO) and systemic metabolic homeostasis, belonging to the nuclear receptor superfamily. When activated by its ligands, such as endogenous fatty acids or exogenous fibrate drugs, Ppara heterodimerizes with the retinoid X receptor, binds to the PPAR response element on the promoter of target genes, and promotes fatty acid uptake, transport, and β-oxidation. Ppara plays a crucial role in maintaining energy metabolism and preventing metabolic disorders. In mouse models, Ppara is highly expressed in tissues such as the liver, heart, and adipose tissue, where it regulates lipid metabolism and glucose homeostasis. Abnormal expression or mutations in Ppara have been implicated in various diseases, including diabetes, obesity, and cardiovascular diseases.
