Target Information

Mouse Mannose-Binding Protein C (Mbl2) is a calcium-dependent lectin involved in innate immune defense. It binds to mannose, fucose, and N-acetylglucosamine on various microorganisms, activating the lectin complement pathway. This protein is mainly produced in the liver and secreted into the bloodstream. Mbl2 plays a crucial role in the recognition and clearance of pathogens. It also binds to late apoptotic cells and necrotic cells, facilitating their uptake by macrophages. Research has shown that low levels of Mbl2 are associated with a higher susceptibility to infections.
