Target Information
Mouse Leukemia Inhibitory Factor Receptor (LIFR) is a transmembrane receptor that facilitates signaling of cytokines such as LIF, oncostatin M, ciliary neurotrophic factor, and cardiotrophin-1. It plays a critical role in various physiological and pathological processes, including embryonic development, immune regulation, and cancer progression. LIFR is overexpressed in multiple cancers and is associated with tumor growth, angiogenesis, and metastasis. It also regulates stem cell self-renewal and differentiation, particularly in embryonic stem cells, through the JAK/STAT3 signaling pathway. Additionally, LIFR is involved in developmental systems, such as bone development and neural tube formation. Mutations in the LIFR gene are linked to genetic syndromes like Stüve-Wiedemann syndrome, which manifests skeletal abnormalities and neurodevelopmental deficits. LIFR is a potential therapeutic target in cancer and other diseases.
