Target Information
Mouse Interleukin-23 subunit alpha (Il23a) is a key component of the interleukin-23 (IL-23) cytokine, which is a heterodimeric cytokine consisting of the p19 subunit (Il23a) and the p40 subunit (Il12b). IL-23 plays a crucial role in the regulation of immune responses, particularly in the differentiation and expansion of Th17 cells, which produce pro-inflammatory cytokines such as IL-17. In mice, Il23a is involved in the positive regulation of defense responses to viruses, immune responses, and neutrophil chemotaxis. It acts upstream of or within T cell proliferation and the positive regulation of transcription by RNA polymerase II. Il23a is expressed in the extracellular space and is part of the interleukin-23 complex. It is also implicated in various disease processes, including autoimmune diseases such as psoriasis, arthritis, and inflammatory bowel disease, as well as in cancer progression and inflammation.
