Target Information
Mouse Interleukin-23 Subunit Alpha (IL-23) is a heterodimeric cytokine composed of p19 and p40 subunits. It plays crucial roles in innate and adaptive immunity by promoting the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines like interleukin-17A (IL-17A) and enhancing the expansion and survival of T-helper 17 cells. IL-23 is involved in autoimmune inflammation and may contribute to the development of autoimmune diseases and tumorigenesis. It is released by antigen-presenting cells such as dendritic cells or macrophages and binds to a heterodimeric receptor complex composed of IL12RB1 and IL23R to signaling activate pathways like JAK-STAT, p38 MAPK, and NF-kappa-B. IL-23 has been implicated in the inflammatory response against infections and is a potential therapeutic target for autoimmune diseases and cancer.
