Target Information
Mouse Interleukin-1β (IL1B) is a pro-inflammatory cytokine that plays a central role in immune responses and inflammation. It is involved in the regulation of various physiological processes, including immune cell activation, inflammation, and tissue repair. IL1B is produced by immune cells such as macrophages and dendritic cells and is activated through the NLRP3 inflammasome pathway. It promotes the production of other pro-inflammatory cytokines like IL-6 and TNF-α and enhances the migration and activation of neutrophils and monocytes. IL1B is implicated in chronic inflammatory diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, inflammatory bowel disease, and sepsis. It also plays a dual role in cancer, where it can both inhibit tumor growth by promoting anti-tumor immune responses and enhance tumor progression by fostering an inflammatory microenvironment that supports angiogenesis and metastasis. Additionally, IL1B contributes to the development of fibrosis and neurodegenerative diseases. Inhibiting IL1B signaling has been explored as a therapeutic strategy for various inflammatory and autoimmune conditions.
