Target Information

Mouse Inositol Polyphosphate-4-Phosphatase Type I A (Inpp4a) is a lipid phosphatase that hydrolyzes the 4-position phosphate from phosphatidylinositol 3,4-bisphosphate, playing a role in regulating cell proliferation and apoptosis. It is involved in endocytosis and phagocytosis processes, with studies showing it negatively regulates the phagocytic activity of macrophages by metabolizing phagosomal PtdIns(3,4,5)P3 to PtdIns(3)P. Inpp4a is also implicated in neurodevelopmental disorders, with biallelic truncating variants causing a spectrum of conditions from intellectual disability to pontocerebellar hypoplasia. Additionally, it has been associated with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis and may serve as a therapeutic target in certain diseases.
